Updates.

For this music video not quite everything went to plan, there is a few things we had to change during the course of filming;

Changes to Actors;

Chelsey Willis was replaced by Nicole Denman.
Ryan Hayden was replaced by Leon Asgari.
Joe Clark was replaced by Josh Hobson.
Daniel Howley was replaced by Connor Falkner.
Jake Jones was replaced by Ryan Brown.

The new actors do still need to fill in there model consent form and have their photograph taken.

Changes to Locations;

Medical room was changed to a consultation room, the reason this was done was because we needed the light to be off and the medical room light was on a sensor so it coulnt be switced on and off maually.

For the new locations pictures do need to be taken and uploaded to blog.

Changes to Scheduele List;

Alterations was made to the scheduele list because extra days was put in for filming.

Changes to Equipent booking form;

Changes was made to the equipment booking form because we needed additonal days for filming so had to add several more lots for the equipment we needed.

Changes to Props;

For the Hospital gown at the time of filming we couldnt actually get hold of one so we had to substitute it with a white science lab coat. If we are able to reshoot we will use the hospital gown we later recieved to do the shots again.

Changes to the storyboard;

In the storyboard it states that the male actor.. Leon, was t walking down the hospital corridor and see the sign which states devotion and sadness etc, well this was missed from shooting so if we get time to reshoot this scence will also be shooted.

Filming Diary.

In this diary we are going include all the dates we filmed and what was come of it the pros and cons.

Friday 29th November 2013;

Today we started to film our music video using three of our chosen actors, we used Ryan Hayden, Chelsey Willis and Josh Hobson, we started filming in the medical room doing close up shots of the women waking up answeing her phone etc (Chelsey), we also proceeded to using the science corridor to do some of our shots by walking down with two of our actors one been a medical practioner (Josh)and one been a patient (Ryan H), we did several shoots because whilst we was on the corridor we tried a close up on the patients face and tried to do a dolly shot following him down the corridor, this didnt quite work the camera footage was shaken so what we did was we zoomed out and as he got further down the corridor we zoomed in to the patients face to retrieve his expression.

Tuesday 3rd December 2013;

Today we went off in our groups, Myself, Connor Fieldsend and Jake Jones, to practice our lip sinking in one of the empty spare rooms in school, we tried filming the piece as a whole and didnt quite work so we did it in a few seperate shots to enable the best shots to put with the music, mainly because we didnt all know the words all the way through so we had to have a few breaks to recall the lyrics.

Friday 6th December 2013.

Today Connor and Leon went off to do some filming unfortunately not all of the group was able to make filming so it made only connor been able to film, they went to the science corridor where they shot the scene, he was doin Ryans section again because he didnt feel up to the propostion that we faced him with the hospital shoots etc.

Saturday 7th December 2013.

Today Leon was filmed outside doing his narrative, which basically included him walking dow and empty street, which in actual fact is the same street as the hospital, he also did the part where he was on a near by hill doing the scenes for the forest clearing so he did a few shots walkig and slightly crawling through tree and branches to make it look realistic.

Monday 9th December 2013.

Today we was granted permission to film on Montagu Hosptals grounds, which entitled us to be able to film our scenes in and outside the building, we did shots of Leon appearing from the exit of an hospital wearing his hospital 'Gown' we did several shoot, and also did a shot of him opening a door and laving the facility.

Tuesday 10th Decemeber 2013.

Today Nicole Denman was replacing Chelsey's role, but we changed the location into a consultion room, this was done because in this room we was able to keep the light off without it coming back on from a scence of motion, so it worked a lot better.

Wednesday 11th December 2013.

Today Connor went to Creighton woods to do several different shots and angles to get the look of the trees that we wanted so we could use it for the green screen. we have plenty of footage to chose from so im quite confident it will look good.

Thursday 12th December 2013.

Connor filmed two empty streets today so we can use them in our video it was important he got there at the right time because if not it would mean there was cars and people on the street which we did not want.

Friday 13th December 2013.

Today all the group, Myself, Connor, Jack and Jake went to do the filmin for the green screen which was the band part for this we needed our actors so we had Jack, Jake from our original list but also Josh and Connor because two of our actors didnt show. So we filmed the parts that we needed to so we did a few shots of all the instruments been played by the actors whos role it was and also did a few lines each of lyrics but then we got our actor Josh to do the entire song so if we needed bits of it or the majority of it we had the footage we needed.

Wednesday 22nd January 2014.

Today Connor filmed Josh doing his shoot at the location where the rest of the band is going to be filmed but was tested to see how it worked other wise it would be stupid to take all the props, and actors outside if it didnt work properly.

Monday 27th January 2014.

Today we did a re-shoot of the band due to the green screen not working properly, so we got our 4 band members, Josh Hobson on drums and signing, Ryan Brown lead vocals and guitar, Jack charlesworth on keyboard and last but not least Connor Faulkner on bass. We did several differnent angles of the filming we used 4 cameras at once 3 on tripods from different angles and a gear pro. Myself and Connor panned using 2 of the cameras leaving one still and also we did another shoot of Ryan signing and Connor using the Gear Pro.

Forms.

I had the role to fill in the shooting scheduele, the production scheduele, and also the equipment booking form and post production forms.

For the shooting scheduele you had to include all the locations of the film, shot numbers of which all the locations will be, the real life locations were they will take actualy take place, the length of time youll need to film and also the time of day, and props needed to successfully complete the filming.

For the production scheduele i had to includethe activity we would be doing so were we would be filming or what we was doing to contribute to the music video, the date of which we are going to do it, who will be taking part so all the students and actors, and the equipment we need.

For the equipment booking form your was required to fill in the relevant areas, so the equipment type, the equipment number which some pieces of equipment have security numbers on them, whos responsibilty it is to look after the equipment which is been released, length of the loan, who it was signed in and out by plus the date as well.

For the post production so far i including which shots we had done, when we had done them, the shooting code, imported, and re-shoot, i included the ones which we had done so far.

Risk Assesment.

The Risk Assesment for the music video was done by 'Jack C' and he filled in the following pages to see what would be of high risk or low risk of accident or danger while we film at our locations.

Action Plan.

The list of objectives that needed to be obtained was done by 'Connor F' and he placed the names of the individuals in the group who was to complete them..

In preparation for our music video, we as a group have decided what, who and where in terms of shooting the music video for 'Human' by The Killers.

Kayleigh: Costumes, props, locations and photos of the chosen actors.

Jack: In charge of Health & Safety for the shooting of the video.

Jake: Main storyboard drawing with partial help from the other group members.

Connor (Me): Treatment of the music video, partial storyboard drawing and taking care of the schedule list to know when we are able to shoot.

Treatment.

For the treatment it was 'Connor Fieldsend's' responsibility to do the treatment for the music video as we all had vital roles to play he did an excellent job producing this for us..

The beginning of the storyboard centres on the lead singer and the band (the band begin playing their instruments through the intro, mid-shot of the band) as the camera cross-cuts between the two other separate narratives consisting of a woman in one and a man in the other. The woman is shown to be sleeping with a dishevelled look (birds-eye mid-shot), and the camera cross-cuts to the man, who is in a hospital corridor on a gurney (the orderlies push the gurney through the hall, the man is clearly upset and in pain, shot from a dolly effect) as the pre-lyric sequence plays through. The hospital is a metaphor for the mans 'pain' of living a bad life.

As the song actually begins (cross-cut to the band) the lead singer is shown in front of the microphone (lead singer begins singing from a mid-shot) and starts the song. As he is singing, the narratives switch to a phone falling off the hook in the same room as the sleeping woman, who is woken by it (camera cross-cuts to the woman jolting awake and has a confused facial expression) and gets up to look (camera cross-cuts to the woman walking drearily to the hanging phone, from a side-shot). The phone dropping off the hook and needing to be replaced is a metaphor for the woman's uneventful life and she yearns for a 'replacement' in life. The woman replaces the phone after listening to the other end of the line, where the lead singer is singing. Upon hearing the music from the phone (close-up of the woman's eyes widening and immediately starts smiling, pulling a sticker with the image of an upturned smile from her face, cross-cutted into a mid-shot), she puts the phone on the hook, which this time doesn't fall off. With the odd look of a smile but with a frown, the woman leaves her room and sets off down a road to an undisclosed location (a dolly shot follows the woman walking out with a frown and smiling, but remaining in an excited state). The lead singer is then shown singing for a few seconds (mid-shot, side-shot of the singer performing).

This then switches to the mans narrative (from a side shot). After hearing the singing, the man gets off of the gurney (brief side shot of the man suddenly getting up, smiles and jumps off the gurney, with a brief panning shot as he walks). The narrative switches back to the woman for a few seconds to show her frown disappearing (shown from 4 different shots. Mid-shot of her face, high angle of her hands feeling her eyebrows, extreme close-up of the fingers peeling off the stickers, then a high angle of the woman with a happy face), allowing her face to express a smile. The narrative cross-cuts to the band (mid-shot), then returns to the woman (she becomes excited and sticks her arms up in the air, high angle).
Turning back to the mans narrative, he is walking through the hospital corridors (dolly shot follows him), notices a set of signs with 'sadness','devotion' and 'dancer' on them (he stops and stares for a second, from a mid-shot, then carries on walking), implying that he leaves his human emotions behind and heads for a better alternative. (Showing elated expressions from a long shot) The man walks out of the hospital and begins towards an undisclosed location. Cross-cuts to the lead singer (close up, shown from the side, the singer wraps his fingers around the microphone), then to one of the other band members (playing whatever instrument they have, shown from a mid-shot).
Returning to the woman's narrative, where she stops outside a forest (the woman runs towards the forest, then stands still just outside, shown from a long shot), which then cross-cuts to a long-shot of the man, who has also entered the forest, from a different entrance (the man walks slowly, the camera follows him as though he is following the camera, sustained long-shot to establish the forest and the man looking around). The story then shows an unused gurney and then a hanging telephone/unused mobile etc to symbolise the abandonment of the average human life (?) (quick cross-cuts to the gurney and the phone).
The man and the woman are then shown as they are about to enter (split-screen of both people to show that they're not actually next to each other, shown from a mid-shot) a large clearing (long shot of both people entering the clearing from a distance apart), as the narrative quickly changes to show empty streets (from a long-shot for both frames, to emphasise the emptiness) where no people are. (an establishing shot of) The clearing shows the band performing in the background and a large crowd of people who run towards the man and the woman (from a side shot run by a dolly or panning shot), who are shown (from a side shot) noticing each other for the first time. The singer is shown performing (mid-shot) again, with (a cross-cut mid-shot of) the man and the woman throwing their arms in the air and expressing excitement and an elated mood. We once again see the band performing (from a long shot) to imply that the video/song is almost over. The band (from a sustained long shot, no cross-cutting) performs until the end of the video, where just before the very end, the man, the woman and the crowd are shown all together (in either an establishing or a long shot). The video ends.

Music Video Actors.

For the music video we require a few actors/models to act in our production. we have made a list of the actors what are in the treatment and who will appoint them.
